   -new year, new hope

-it's not that we will face famine, but God promises more than enough.. 

   -life is never easy

-there are times in life that God brings us to situations.. door closed, challenges, setback

   -God is setting up something for us.. for something greater

   -Jesus was sent to the dessert to prepare Him for this mission

3 things must do

1. Don't look back.. failure or success

-dwell - focus accessively on pain of the past.. then stuck in guilt and failures... Unable to move on

-requires a forward focus

-God wants us to learn from the past but not stuck in it

-forgiveness is not easy

-is not feeling.. but a decision

   -decision to let go

   -people may not know, but God knows

-old things have past, and behold it's a new beginning

2. look up to God

-the Holy Spirit is the streams in the wasteland

-dont worry, the Holy Spirit will protect against the wild animals, jackets, owls

3. Look out to 2025

-our works have power

when light overcomes mistakes

-when we repent, God will turn our sadness into joy

-christmas reminds us that God don't see us through the lens of our mistakes

-Thomas don't believe until he sees the nails mark on Jesus' handing and wounds

   -just this mistake he made, he's known as "doubting Thomas".. but he had sent the good news far

      -the world may not remember the good things done, but God remembers

-Moses failed, mocked by the devil..

   -but God don't define us by our mistakes but refine us with them

-God can open closed doors

-God forgive us, but we have to also forgive ourself

-God chose us not cos we are perfect

-Jesus can repair what is broken and give us a vision to see bright, clear and far

-we must first see in our mind before we have the miracles

-our vision leads our life.. and the Holy Spirit wants to give us a new vision lead us

-without Jesus, there will be an emptiness.. fame, money, people

   -Jesus fills the emptiness.. there's no substitute for God's love

God's love is tangible.. we can feel it.. and it changes and transform us as we encounter His love

3 reasons why Roman believers stuggle

nothing can separate us from God's love

   don't feel condemned cos we have the power inside to overcome 

when Jesus died on the cross, He broke the power of sin and death in us

ppl don't change through scolding, threats or concrete authority 

   may have temporary changes, but true change only happen when moved by the love of God

sanctification

-we can only love cos God first love us

-is us ... by ourself through God 

fulfilment... not replacement 

the commandments are given to show us how loving God and loving ppl is like 

-divine love quenches all our longings for sin

-sin loses its appeal in light of God's overwhelming love

   -just cannot match up to the joy that God's love brings

-theres nothing wrong with wanting the recognition of people, material things, views of people.. but in God's love, all these doesn't matter 

there's a way out to the sins and bad slavery..through the baptism of the spirit of love
