RELATIONAL PRAYER

-does our prayer life inspire others to pray

-Jesus didn't insist on His way, but allow Father to speak back to Him 

Prayers

1. Performative prayer

-when we need others to help us to pray 

   -we are unable to pray on our own

-we are to build relationship with Jesus... So that when we are the lowest point in life, we can confidently say that "though we walk through the valley, we fear no evil cos Jesus is with us"

2. Superstitious prayer

-motivation: first is to please God cos He is God, very distant and uninterested... Second is to please God cos of love 

-what God wants from us is a faith prayer

-we don't need to work hard to get God's attention 

-even though God knows our needs, God still wants us to pray...

-

3. Rational prayer

-God wants us a relational communication 

-prayer not as a tool but a relationship conversation 

-

-God does not silence our desires... He sanctifies them 

-God does not ignore our feelings.. He refines them 

-present our request by prayer and petition 

   -engaging with God.. ask God how He feels about our petition 

-ask God for our needs is important but God gives according to His will 

-

-

-question is are we able to accept "no" as a reward 

-we won't see it's reward from God until we know that God is a good God

-God is inviting us to the table

-humility is the queen then checkmate the heart of the king 

Humility is the most important virtue in spiritual 

Detachment.. freedom of the heart

   We need to make room for God.. God won't force His 

-prayer.. communion with God

-Jesus' prayer was not driven by power or prestige... his prayer is for love 

-Jesus prayed to love in continuous union with the Father 

-persistent prayer enlarges us

3 things about prayer

1. prayer is speaking honestly to God 

-dont speak only things God want to hear... But our actual thoughts, honestly

-God alr knows everything... Why pretend?

-real prayer happens when we start to speak honestly 

2. prayer is listening attentively to God

-a true conversation is 2 way

3. prayer is resting the presence of God

-

-learning to rest in the presence of God and allow the Holy Spirit to bring us to the centre 

-upon for power, strength 

-within.. being aware of His presence 

-Holy Spirit within us stables us

-not we carry the Joly Spirit occasionally, it's the Holy Spirit carrying us always

-learn how to rest in, be filled, lead by God

-we are what we pray

-the measure of faith is the measure of our prayer

-our prayer, there is beginning, but theres no end 

-our prayer is not our search for God first, but it's God's searching for us first 

-our prayer sits on not our desire to seek God but the confidence that God is waiting for us 

-our desire to worship and praise, seeking are caused by the Holy Spirit

-Holy Spirit like the dove, is ur part is to respond

3types of prayer

1. mental prayer

-meditate on the Word of God

-as we mature, we will bring out the scriptures mentally

-we take the lead

-abide in the Word

2. prayer in the spirit 

-Holy Spirit through us

-Holy Spirit takes the lead 

3. contemplative prayer 

-resting in God 

-learn to listen

-God pours out His love, and our heart is so open

-after all the prayer till nothing else to say.. heart fully open up

-where deep healing happens
