FAITH AND PRAISE numbers 21

a difference between old and new generation response to crisis

how to respond in a crisis
1. respond in faith
-how the first generation responded
-because of their unbelieve, they died
they looked to the Lord and overcame the crisis

respond in faith! Satan's objective is to steal and rob our faith
if our faith is intact, though we may fail.. we will rise again!

can you trust God and be faithful?

during crisis, don't stop believing!
the penalty of sin and unbelieve is death
-God's solution to bring healing is to look at the bronze serpent
-its not the bronze serpent tt have some supernatural power.. but responding in faith
-we may fall into temptation
-repent! and fix your eyes on Jesus!
-the Word! what He promised to do
keep your eyes on God!
by the Holy Spirit, we can bear the fruits of the Spirit --- kindness, gentleness, [the 9 characteristics]

the Israelites is going round and round in the wilderness
-the Lord showed up... God is still here no matter where we are
-we may be feeling lost.. but God is still here!
in the wilderness, when they are going nowhere, they sang a song!
2. response with faith
when we are singing praise, we are mediating on God's glorious splendor. speak of God's work, utter the memory of God's goodness
-however, as they began to face crisis, songs starts to diminish
-its in a I, me thing to them
3 things about praise
1. praise is authentic

-David is making music to the Lord
-David express his feeling, not trying to hide himself
life is filled with betrayal, anguish, but its doesn't stop there

praise acknowledges God true fully!
-Jesus is honest abt the betrayal
-at the same time, Jesus acknowledges God true fully
don't let crisis steal our songs
3. praise is creative
no matter what is happening, God is still make a way when there seems to be no way

praise creates a way when theres no way

BOOK OF REVELATION L9

in the previous lesson, we learnt tt these seals contains the future of the world leading to the 2nd coming of Jesus and His kingdom on earth
-because of the victory on the cross, only Jesus is worthy to lose the seal
-there are things tt must first happen
-in the preparation of the 2nd coming
-each time a sealed is opened, the Seraphim will call out in a loud thundery voice “come and see”
-the Lord is showing John a vision of 4 horsemen being released into the world
the 1st horseman came riding on a white horse
   -white represents pure, righteous
only Jesus is worthy to open the seal, and He revealed the future to His disciples

Jesus warns of false Christ!

antichrist will come and portrays himself as man of peace, look like an angel of light, work signs and wonders
-2nd horseman comes riding in a red horse
   -red.. color of blood
-this horsemen uses his sword and causes big slaughter
-symbolizes global warfare and blood shed
-2 world wars in the last century.. after the 2nd world war, United Nations founded in 1945 with the aim to prevent future wars.. however, there are still wars going on
-3rd horseman came on a black horse
-black is the color of evil and mourning
-mourning cos of the lack of food
-the pair of scales symbolizes careful measure of food
-3rd horseman follows the 2nd horseman (war)
-cos of shortage, cost of food increases
-wheat (staple food) --- requires a day's wage
-barley (food for the poor) --- only enough to buy for the household..what abt other expenses?
-no shortage of oil and wine --- it is set by God tt the horseman cant the oil and wine
-hardship is not total.. it is the poor but not the rich who will suffer
famine is caused by war and climate change
-we are now experiencing global warming (greenhouse effect, deforestation) !!

-4th horseman rides on a pale horse   -color of corpse, and the name of the horseman is death
-at the end times, more ppl will die cos of the war, famine, sickness and diseases, earthquakes
-diseases kill more ppl than war!

-the 4 horsemen formed a grp, Jesus calls "beginning of sorrows"
-these will continue on..and will cause man to think if God is still in control, abt God's existence
-ppl are calling for a savior..and this is set for the coming of  antichrist
-beginning of sorrows..if theres a beginning, there will be a climax (the 5th seal)

we are alr living in the beginning of sorrow.. the climax of sorrow may come anytime
the 2nd coming of Jesus and the rapture will take place on the same day --- the day of Christ / the day of the Lord
-the day of Christ will not come unless the antichrist is revealed
-Christians will not escape meeting the anitchrist!
-antichrist is the son of perdition --- man of destruction (kill and destroy many)
-the antichrist will sit in the temple of Jerusalem and demand to be worshipped
-the antichrist will perform signs and wonders..he will deceive many into believing him
-we should not follow signs and wonders..when we follow Jesus, signs and wonders should automatically follow us!
-we got to be discerning to see and hear by the word of God

suffering is the inevitable result for living for Christ and for the gospel

when we are saved, the old norm is not a norm anymore
   -lies, steal, lust
the light in us expose the darkness of the world
-good works for the world, for God's glory
-ppl will thank us, but its naïve to think tt this world will treat us favorably when we live for Christ and gospel
-unless we compromise, persecution is sure to come

-in times of hardship, its always every man/women.. loyalty will be severely tested
-the world can kill our body but not our soul
-death is only the end of our body
-our spirit and soul lives on..
      -we are fully aware!
-the martyrs (believers) who are killed were crying to God for injustice
   -injustice is not bloody revenge
-God makes wrongs right
-God's justice, He will restore the fairness
-theres nothing wrong with such prayer
Jesus didnt say he wont deal with the persecutors, but the martyrs are to be patient

believers will not be raptured to escape the sufferings on earth
though not all will be killed, but will experience hardship
