PASSION FOR GOD part 3

-God remove the heart of cold --- hard

   -with a heart of flesh --- leading, 

-the Holy Spirit keeps moving us to follow the commandments

-disregard ones body and the others 

-the bible teach us to honor one another 

-we must say no to all sexual immortality 

-

-

-refuse to entertain those flesh cravings 

-self control 

-the temptation us relentless 

-

-begins in the heart and mind 

   -the mind thinks and physically will follow

-guard our heart and our mind

-surrender to God

-dont lose the desire to be pure

-human beings can steal from God

-

-

-the master gave the gold to each according to their abilities 

-our job is to do what we are entrusted with

-one day, the master will come back for an account on what we have 

-just as God gives everybody differently.. there's no need to steal or be jealous.. just be faithful to what we have 

4 things we may be stealing 

1. Time

-"snake" during work

2. Integrity 

-giving what was paid for...not shortchanging 

3. Financial obligations 

-owe money, but delay even with ability to repay

4. Resources 

-dont hold back our resources from those who are in need

-rivival breaks out cos they manage their resources 

-the way we live affect our relationship with the Holy Spirit 

-God is watching... And someday the master will return and we have to account for what we have

-we don't have to strive.. cos God has apportion the resources.. all we need to do is be a good steward 

LIFE IN THE SPIRIT

how to remove sin is not trying to suck sins out but to fill our life with the Holy Spirit

-the greatest spiritual warfare is in the internal

   -how to grow to be more and more like Jesus

-born of a fallen and sinful nature, inherited by birth

-Holy Spirit wants to sanctify us

   -until we go to heaven, we will experience both flesh and Spirit

-how to have victory over sin.. to walk in the spirit.. Holy Spirit is the key!

   -the more we walk in the Spirit, the more we will be like Jesus

Holy Spirit will help us

a Christians is one who is at war with the bad desires and is fighting a victories fight

the law is God's law

-theres inner transformation

   -the law is in the hearts

-there is a delight in the commandments of God

-the law is abt love

common sins in 4 situations

-sex --- any formication outside marriage, for singles sex before marriage

-indecency

-religion

-anger --- temper, dissensions: disagreeable, stubborn; heresies: go against the norm, play internal politics; envy: craving for what others have; jealousy: suspicious of ppl taking what we have; murder: bitter anger

-drunkenness: socializing, will behave in our lowest nature; revelries: wild partying

-practice such things: habitual lifestyle and continual practice

   -we will lose our salvation if we continue with our sins

      -salvation is not by works, but by grace

fruit, singular cos we cant choose

how to control the flesh

-we must crucify the flesh.. done by us, not for us

   -Holy Spirit will supply the power, but need an action from us

-dont give in to our self-indulgence (sinful cravings)

   -we must do it daily 

true repentance is taking flesh (sinful nature) and nail to the cross until die

1. crucify the flesh (mortification)

-cannot feel sorry for ourselves

-extremely intensively painful (a part of our life and we are to cut it off)

   -our flesh is try very hard to stop us from cutting

-death is not instance

   -this is the biggest challenge

-crucified: complete decision

   -we must learn to leave it there!

-the Holy Spirit will not force if we are not willing

2. walk in the spirit (vivification)

-led by the spirit is passive

-to walk in the spirit is active

-we must personally and intentionally walk in the spirit

walk (GR: stoicheo) = march in step on the line drawn

-walk in the spirit.. we must know the path (the bible)

   -also to set our minds in good things, spiritual things

Jesus has done everything for us on the cross

   -be willing and mindful

THE WAY OF HOLINESS (VIVIFICATION)

success from God, not from the world or the devil

-love like Jesus

-holiness is the foundation of God's nature

-God is perfectly pure and perfect

God's love is holy love, it's pure

God love is, God wants us to enjoy Him forever

-only the pure in heart will see God

-don't impress the world by our wealth, success

   -but by the holiness shine fore for Jesus

-if there's no love, joy, peace.. how to have church growth

-with no self control, we lose everything

-God is in the holiness business

-we got to get the focus right! Focus on Jesus and everything else will come

way of holiness

1. nature of holiness is transformation through consecration

-consecration = a drawing near to God, giving ourselves fully

   -not just what we do but it's our heart

-bodies =  mind, thoughts, visions, dreams

-holy = hagios (Greek) = set apart

2. agent of holiness is the indwelling Holy Spirit

-the Holy Spirit dwells in us

we are saved by grace, not by works

-not sinning continually, habitually

-seed = God's DNA

-all this happen cos we are born of God.. it's natural

-in Christ, we will sin lesser and lesser as we grow

-when we sin, we feel guilty

-it's impt to read the Bible, pray, and meditate

-bit by bit, we are changed by the Holy Spirit

Vivification

-comes from the word vivify

-vivere (Latin) = to make alive

-the Holy Spirit bringing alive

3. experience of holiness involves effort and conflict

it is the work of the Holy Spirit and requires our corporation... power is by the Spirit, our part is to cooperate

-God will not force His will to us

-it's not easy to be Christlike, especially when we are under stress

-we won't be able to learn obedience until we start to obey

-love even if ppl are malicious

-rejoice in depress

-choose to have peace, calm in troubles

-long-suffering in frustrations

-be kind with mean and nasty ppl

-temptation to sin, learn to be good, have moral purity

-no more energy to love, learn to be faithfulness, loyalty.. make a commitment before God

   -do it unto the Lord

-when angry, furious, learn gentleness.. lower tone

-retaliate or strike back, learn self control

*re-act them until it becomes our nature

4. rule of holiness is the law of God

-10 commandments

   -they are the eternal values of God

   -it doesn't save us but show us the way

-Jesus kept all

-royal law: not just the act but also in the mind

5. heart of holiness is the spirit of love

love unconditionally.. even if there no positive response

-yield for the holy Spirit

-the more we act out, the more we are
