2 things happened on the cross
1. God forgives our sins
-Jesus took our sins and nailed it on the cross.. He freed us of all moral and spiritual bankruptcy
2. God in Christ defeated kingdom of darkness
-though total darkness surrounded and attached Jesus, Jesus totally defeated them
-the resurrection of Jesus shows His victory and Father God accepted that our sins are paid for
-Satan still continue to great power
-we are not able to stand against the demonic forces unless we are strong in God (putting on the armor of God)
*there is a tension between alr and not yet experienced
-Jesus won the complete victory but not yet manifested in its fullness
-alr the kingdom of God has come and advancing but not yet fully realized
-alr the new age has begun but the old age has not passed away
-alr as Christian, we are no longer spiritually dead, but yet experience physical death
*if we ever compromise in alr, we are in danger of becoming off balance prideful..in Christ, we will never get sick, we are perfect
-but perfection comes only when Jesus returns
*if we over emphasize on not yet, we live a defeated life, accepting whatever Satan throws at us
-we wont bind him cos we alr forgotten the alr --- victory of Jesus
-destroy = to render powerless
-Satan is in the earth (not completely gone), but have no power over us
we can have a foretaste of...
1. Christ gives us victory over the tyranny of the flesh
-flesh = body of sin which we inherited from Adam
2. Crisis gives us victory over the tyranny of the world
-what the world values is different from what God values
-lust of the flesh -> craving for sex / pleasure
-lust of the eyes -> craving for greed / envy
--pride of life -> crave for prestige / power
-when we believe in Jesus, what we value changes.. pleasure, procession, prestige is no longer impt but God's purpose
3. Christ gives us victory over tyranny of death
-fear of death is universal
-why is death so painful, terrifying tt ppl are afraid of death?
-fear of death is a string of sin...after death brings eternal judgment...it is unknown
-but Jesus has taken our sins on the cross
4. Christ gives us victory over the tyranny of sickness
-griefs = sickness & diseases
-sorrows = physical pain
-healed = Rapha (hehrews)
5. Christ gives us victory over the tyranny of poverty
-poverty is a bondage of Satan
-you don't need to be rich to be happy
-God will meet our needs, not our greed
*those who trust in the Lord will not be disappointed
