-Jesus offers rest
-following Jesus is suppose to be joyful
-we are joined together with Jesus to serve Him
-Jesus offers both rest and yoke... It's an easy and light yoke
serving is hard for those who work to be good enough for God
serve to get blessing from God
-older brother wants to be deserving of the blessing
-when he didn't get it, he was so angry cos he worked so hard!
-wants the gift, not the giver... -its easy to get angry at God when the blessing we want doesn't come
serve to pay back
-cos Jesus saved, so have to repay.. all abt us and not for God
-serving should only be cos of love
don't serve to impress people!
-it's ok to enjoy praises but don't make it that we are seeking for people's notice or appreciation
-if ppl don't get impressed, tend to give up or serve harder
-think too highly of self
-Jesus asked Marta why is she so busy
serve for a sense of belonging
-when Simon saw the power, he wants to buy it so that he can belong to the group that has power like the apostle
-serving is very hard when Jesus is not in the mix
-the disciple use all the skills but not sought after Jesus
-Jesus did not come so that we can serve Him, but Jesus has come to serve us
-Jesus don't expect us to serve
-Jesus loves and accepts us no matter whether we serve or not
-e serve cos we want to and not we have to... there is no competition
-we don't treat a friend and a servant the
-servant do just as told..no questions asked
-a friend always have our back...a friend is someone who can trust
